AMS Honors PAEMST Winners

March 2004

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) honored the Presidential Awardees for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching at a breakfast in Washington, DC on March 19, 2004.  The breakfast was held in conjunction with recognition week activities held for mathematics and science teacher awardees from across the country.

The PAEMST program is administered for the White House by the National Science Foundation and annually chooses one outstanding teacher in both mathematics and science from each state and territory.  The 2003 winning teachers were selected from among the nation’s finest secondary mathematics and science teachers and will receive a US$10,000 award in addition to participating in recognition events that included meetings with leaders in government and education, a Presidential Citation and awards ceremony.

The AMS is pleased to be able to recognize such an outstanding achievement by these exceptional mathematics teachers and congratulates all the awardees on their accomplishment.
