AMS Participates in Congressional Visits Day

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) participated in Congressional Visits Day (CVD) on March 3-4, 2004.  CVD is a joint effort by a coalition of scientific societies to advocate the critical  importance of broad federal support for scientific research.  It is a two-day annual event that brings diverse representatives of the scientific community to Washington to meet with legislators to discuss the significance of science, engineering and technology to our Nation.

More than 200 scientists, engineers and business leaders converged on Washington, DC to call on Congress to support an increased and balanced federal investment in scientific research.  Sam Rankin, Associate Executive Director of the AMS and the Director of its Washington Office, along with Peter March of the Ohio State University and Kevin Clancey of the University of Louisville, met with Congressional staff as part of this effort.
