International Conference on Elliptic and Parabolic Equations

Month: November 2009

Date: November 30--December 4

Name: International Conference on Elliptic and Parabolic Equations

Location: Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS), Berlin, Germany.

Description

Elliptic and parabolic PDE's have been powerful models of problems in science and engineering for more than a quarter millennium. The classical solution theory of these equations assumes "perfect" spatial domains and coefficients. However, to deal with real world problems today, one has to take into account vertices and edges of three-dimensional spatial domains, discontinuous coefficient functions, and various mixed boundary conditions. Suitable regularity for such linear elliptic problems is crucial for the solution theory of corresponding nonlinear elliptic and parabolic equations. This conference will examine the progress in this direction, and elliptic and parabolic equations in real space at large. One day of the conference will be specifically devoted to Navier-Stokes equations.
