"Mathematicians get fresh formula for web searches." Nature, 11 December 2003.
The journal's "News in Brief" section reports that researchers will meet in April to discuss how to make an internet search engine based on MathML ("a language that describes the symbols used in equations and spells out the meaning of the equations as a whole")---as search engines now crawl the web looking for keywords and phrases and usually miss mathematics equations because they are usually imported into web documents as images.
