Interactions between Analysis and Geometry

Month: March 2013

Date: March 11--14

Name: Interactions between Analysis and Geometry

Location: Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM), UCLA, Los Angeles, California.

Description

Within mathematics, as within science in general, there is a need for greater communication between workers from different research specialties. The purpose of this program is to promote the interaction between two core areas of mathematics-analysis and geometry. Geometers can give analysts new perspectives and focus for their research; geometers can benefit from an exchange of ideas with analysts by becoming more familiar with the powerful tools of their field. An application is available online. Encouraging the careers of women and minority mathematicians and scientists is an important component of IPAM's mission and we welcome their applications.
