Individual members enjoy the many benefits the AMS has to offer, as well as the opportunity to participate in programs dedicated to furthering mathematical research and communication. Members also have the opportunity to announce research at AMS meetings and share advances in the field with colleagues in the mathematical community.

Special reduced rates are available for new members, students, unemployed, and the retired. The AMS membership year runs from January through December.

Reciprocity membership (at a reduced rate) is available to individuals outside of the United States who belong to another mathematical society with which we have a reciprocity agreement. Check the 2008  | 2009 dues information page and the Reciprocity societies list.

Individuals residing in developing countries qualify for a special, low dues rate.

  • A free subscription to the print version of Notices of the American Mathematical Society (published 11 times per year), giving you a broad overview of contemporary mathematics: current developments in research, trends in subject matter, directions of the profession and the various reforms in mathematics education; as well as articles on important mathematics and mathematicians from past years. The Noticesalso contains news items and information on mathematics people and opportunities, employment opportunities, new publications listings, reports on Society business, and world-wide meetings and conferences information.

  • A free subscription also to the print version of the Bulletin of the American Mathematical Society, containing expository articles, book reviews, and research reports. Electronic versions of Notices and Bulletin are available on the AMS website.
