Institutional Membership

Accredited universities and colleges in North America, Central America and the Caribbean are eligible for institutional membership. Membership is available to institutions with or without graduate programs in mathematics, and to two-year colleges, with varying membership benefits and dues.

International Institutional Membership is available outside of North America.

Benefits of Membership
Institutional members receive the following publications as part of their annual dues:

• Notices and Abstracts : Two (2) subscriptions
• Bulletin (New Series): One (1) subscription
• Assistantships and Graduate Fellowships in the Mathematical Sciences : One (1) copy

Institutional Member Discounts
Institutional members are eligible for discounts on AMS books and journals, including a discount on the Database Fee for Mathematical Reviews. These discounts are available to all departments and libraries on the same campus, provided orders are placed either directly with the AMS or through a participating agent. Quarterly Publications Updates are available electronically

Institutional members receive a discount on mailing lists rented from the AMS and a discount on advertising in the Notices . The Notices is effective for recruitment advertising. Mailing lists for departments listed in the Mathematical Sciences Professional Directory may be used to announce graduate assistantships and fellowships. Detailed information will be sent upon request.

Nominees
Nominees are individuals appointed by the department of mathematics of member institutions and are considered regular individual members of the Society who do not pay dues during the period they are nominees. For institutions with a graduate program in mathematics, all regularly enrolled graduate students may be nominated for individual membership.

Institutions that do not have a graduate program in mathematics are entitled to nominate up to four (4) individuals for membership. At least one (1) of these nominees must be a regularly enrolled student, the others may be faculty members. Additional nominee memberships for students may be purchased for $40 each.

Institutional Membership Dues

Dues are based upon a number of factors, including faculty size, number of full-time students, and number of papers reviewed in Mathematical Reviews. Annual dues of institutional members are set by action of the Council and Board of Trustees of the American Mathematical Society. Please call or e-mail AMS Member Services for more details. Membership in the AMS extends from January through December of the membership year.
