MathML

MathML is an XML-based document language designed to solve the difficult problem of displaying mathematics properly in web browsers. The W3C has produced a very good specification for MathML, an indispensable first step. Although it appears that it will take a little more time [as of this writing, August 2001] before we can genuinely say that we have usable, readily available, reasonably easy-to-install browsers that do a good job of rendering MathML, some of the software under development is getting pretty close.
